I was looking for a contemporary monospaced font without all the fuzzy typewriter elements in it. As it seemed that there was nothing fitting my needs in a minimalistic drive with more than a single weight, I’ve started to create my own.
Basik Mono is a contemporary fixed pitch type family in 3 weights and it‘s corresponding Italics. It is a linear constructed single space font taking it‘s inspirations on restrained grotesque typefaces. It was interpreted as a straight lined monospaced family by myself.
The open type features of Basik Mono contains 2 variations in every weight. A display optimized character set by default and a text oriented version for best readability in longer copies. The restrained nature and minimalistic style of Basik Mono generates the ability to easily integrate in contemporary layout requirements. Basik Mono is a work in progress and was designed by Ricky Korf from 2016 to 2019 in Hamburg and Leipzig.
