Alinea Kunstdruckerei
branding

Projectinfo

The art printers of Alinea-Kunstdruckerei Leipzig contacted me to have a look on their actual branding and communication concept. Analyzing the special work they did for artists all the way, we wanted to change the brand concept to a more specific point of view. Looking for a symbolic behavior to verify the artistic meanings of their work I was trying to step into the horseshoes of Ives Klein. Since the painter and artist from France was researching for the bluest blue, the color stands for art and avant garde. Resulting from a large testing stage of searching, trying and mixing pigments and colors we’ve found the special blue tone we were looking for. To produce this color tone we had to print it in different transits by hand as for my part art stands for a dexterity of doing thing.

The pigments on the paper are not fixed and so the color transfers to hands and other papers. To meaningful continue this concept I reviewed what happens when art is forwarded to a customer or gallery. The artworks get wrapped in foil for safety transportation. Therefore I’ve decided to do this as well and made sure everything handed out will be welded in foil. The user will see the blue pigments falling of and getting caught in the wrap like a piece of art getting broken by handling it wrongly.

In combination with a minimalistic typographic concept the Alinea Kunstdruckerei branding builds a contemporary and art based point of view. Personally I would love to develop and print it again and again and …
